Qutub Minar, Delhi

The Qutub Minar is also called as Qutab Minar or Qutb Minar. Qutub Minar is a heritage site located in Qutab complex in Delhi. It is a minaret of 73 m-high towers of victory. The construction of this tower of victory, started by Qutb al-Din Aibak the founder of the Mamluk Dynasty in Delhi. And completed by his successor and son-in-law Iltutmish. The first floor of the tower, built in the 12th century. The second, third and fourth floors, built in the 13th century. And in the 14th century, the last floor was completed. There were attempts to add the sixth storey to the tower, which failed.

The Minar, surrounded by several historically significant monuments of the Qutab complex, including Quwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the Tomb of Imam Zamin, the Tomb of Iltutmish, the much older Iron Pillar of Delhi and Major Smith’s Cupola. Qutab Minar has five tapering storeys. The lower three storeys, made of pale red sandstone. The fourth and fifth storeys made of marble and sandstone. Each storey has a balcony projecting out. The balcony surrounded by exclusive artworks. A circular staircase of 379 steps allows one to reach the top of the tower to witness a panoramic view of the city. The tower, tilted from 65 cm above the ground.

Winter is the best time to visit Qutab Minar from October to March. The climate is a pleasing time to walk around the ground and makes a much more pleasant experience. It is the tourism season of the country.
